ATTENDANCE: EARLY RELEASE FROM CAMPUS (BLUE SLIPS)
Once students arrive on campus they cannot leave without prior notification from a parent/guardian to the Attendance Office. In order to leave campus without attendance, citizenship, and scholarship penalties, students must obtain a Blue Slip from the Attendance Office PRIOR to leaving campus.
Requests for early release (Blue Slip) must be submitted BEFORE 7:00a.m.on the day of release (parents may phone in PRIOR to 7:00 a.m. or send a note with your student and he/she must bring it to the Attendance Office PRIOR to 7:30 a.m.) Requests for early release received after 8:00 a.m. on the day of release cannot be honored.
STUDENTS MUST PICK UP THE BLUE SLIP IN THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE - WE CANNOT DELIVER THEM TO THE CLASSROOM.
Blue slips should be a last resort, only when medical or dental appointments cannot be made before or after school. If appointments (medical/dental/court appt.) during instructional time cannot be avoided, the student's period absences will be marked as "Unexcused" until we receive VERIFICATION of the appointment. Please return the VERIFICATION to the attendance office as soon as the student returns to school. If the VERIFICATION is not received within 5 school days, the student's absence will remain UNEXCUSED.
Requests for Blue Slips will NOT be honored, on the following days, unless it is a verifiable medical or court appointment and the information presented to the Attendance Office staff before the appointment day. If it is a personal family emergency the parent/guardian or family member listed on the registration card must come to the office to make a personal request:
- The Friday or the day prior to a dance
- Friday or the day before holiday/vacation days.
- Any testing days (AP, SBAC, CAHSEE, etc.)
Students who become ill during the school day MUST visit the Health Office for assessment. If is determined that a student needs to go home, parents will be contacted and the Health Office staff will issue the Blue Slip.
